At Diva we strive to provide customized treatments for every guest. As an RMT I like to offer a variety of options for massage such as therapeutic, deep tissue and relaxation. These treatments can be customized with Ayurvedic aroma and guided meditation. Aveda is inspired by the ancient philosophy of Ayurveda (meaning “the science of life” in Sanskrit), a healing and lifestyle system that focuses on bringing balance to the body, mind and spirit. At Diva, the products and treatments offered reflect Ayurvedic philosophies and practices through touch, breath and aroma.

Why should I get a massage?

The benefits of massage therapy are endless, from relaxation, stress and tension relief to the treatment and rehabilitation of both muscular and skeletal injuries. Massage can positively affect many areas of the body, including the digestive, nervous, respiratory and endocrine/exocrine systems. Results may include the reduction of anxiety, stress and pain and the lowering of blood pressure.

Why should I meditate?

Meditation enhances relaxation, offers space to quiet the mind releasing tension to facilitate self-exploration, self-realization and healing.

There is no wrong way to meditate!

Meditative activities may include a quiet walk in nature, listening to your favorite music, practicing yoga and breathing exercises or keeping a journal. Working towards clearing the mind of worries, extreme emotions and chaos is refreshing and restorative. You many find yourself taking that moment to close your eyes and inhale deeply. It is challenging to silence the inner chatter so you may find yourself drifting into either sleep or thinking about what is next on your to-do list. That’s normal! The conscious act of recognizing these moments and silencing them is meditation. Meditation is called a practice because it takes practice. To start, you may choose guided meditation with an experienced practitioner to help direct your mind, breath and consciousness.

So why combine meditation with massage?

When the mind and body are relaxed and we recognize the connection, we can uncover our true needs and desires, identify our strengths and weaknesses and begin to heal physical and emotional wounds. The combination of meditation and massage is also a great way for people to explore guided meditation. Personal meditation, group meditation and guided meditation each offer different path that may lead us to different levels of relaxation and consciousness. Get creative with your practice and try new things while opening yourself to self-exploration.

So how does it work?

In the meditations I offer, we focus on the Chakra system. Chakras are energy centers within the body that influence our emotions and energy level connecting our physical and emotional selves. We have hundreds of thousands of chakras in our bodies that are ruled by the seven major chakras aligned along the spine from the tailbone to the top of the skull. These centers are responsible for the energy that affects many aspects of our lives and correspond to specific glands, systems, colours, and sound frequencies.

By balancing these energy centers, we can experience balance and wellness physically and emotionally. In addition to guided meditation, I use aroma, visualization, affirmation and polarity therapy to direct your attention and intention to your Chakra centres while enhancing the experience.

The two types of meditative massage
