GMJ-HairExtensions

Nowadays, almost anyone can have long, luxurious locks thanks to the availability of hair extensions. If you are considering hair extensions, they need extra care and attention. Here are some tips to get the best from your hair extensions:

What type of extension should I get?

It is recommended that you consult with a hair stylist that specializes in installing and framing hair extensions. Though hair extensions come in several different types, at Diva customers can purchase Fairy Veil Tape-in extensions by GMJ Beauty. During your consultation, your stylist will determine whether or not you are a suitable candidate for hair extensions and how many packs of hair you require. No matter the type, you will have a period of adjustment to get used to the weight.

What are tape-in extensions?

Tape-in extensions are wefts of hair with a strong adhesive tape strip that are each sandwiched to sections of your natural hair. As part of the installation, your Diva stylist will also cut your extensions to blend with your hair.

What type of hair is used to make the extensions?

Good quality extensions, like Fairy Veil Tape-in Extensions are made from 100% Remy human hair with an intact cuticle facing one direction. This prevents tangling, matting and short hair return. The hair is sourced from India and the extensions are handmade in China.

Can I colour my extensions?

Your stylist can colour your extensions darker, but lightening is not recommended, though blonde extensions can be toned. We recommend that you wait 24-48 hours following installation and colour must be kept away from the tape bonds. If you require a regrowth retouch, have it done 24-48 hours prior to your extension installation. A partial retouch can be done 24-48 hours after extension installation, though the colour must be kept off the tape bonds.

You can use the styling products of your choice just avoid applying a leave-in conditioner and styling product directly on the tape bonds.

Can I swim and exercise while wearing extensions?

Hair should be brushed before and after swimming or exercise and worn in a ponytail to avoid tangling. Make sure to wash your hair after swimming and exercise.

NEVER GO TO BED WITH WET EXTENSIONS.

What is the lifespan of tape-in extensions?

Good quality extensions should last 6 to 10 weeks depending on your rate of hair growth. . Extensions can be reinstalled up to 3 times for a total of 6-8 months of wear. To avoid matting, frizzing and tangling, your extensions should be close to the scalp. Moving your extensions also ensures that the bonds remain seamless.
